We're a partnership between scientists, nurses, educators and government

"If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go with others." AFRICAN PROVERB
We have come together to support enrolled nurses undertaking transition to pre-registration nursing degrees.

Enrolled nurses seeking to become registered nurses are given direct entry to second year of university, which means they
miss well-resourced and well-established first year entry programs.

In addition, many enrolled nurses:
  • have not studied for some time, having been in the workforce since their VET program
  • study by distance
  • are first in family to study at university
  • have work and family commitments
  • experience 'science anxiety'

We also want to support anyone who teaches enrolled nurses, and encourage them to share knowledge and insights for the benefit of all our students.

Our objective is to support enrolled nurses undertaking transitions to pre-registration nursing degrees. To do this, we:

1 Created a framework for a dedicated transition program
2 Identified core and threshold human bioscience concepts for the study of pathophysiology and pharmacology
3 Designed a tool for students to self-identify gaps in their knowledge
4 Pulled it all together in this open access website for use by any university with an enrolled nurses intake
We have been able to do this thanks to a grant from the Australian Government Department of Education for the investigation, discovery, development and implementation of innovations in learning and teaching.

How we measure our success

By seeing this website be useful to and well used by:
  • Enrolled nurses
  • Institutions that offer pre-registration degrees for nursing
By increasing the number of enrolled nursing students who:
  • Have a positive experience in their transition to pre-registration nursing degrees
  • Feel supported and prepared to start their studies
  • Have reduced levels of 'science anxiety'
  • Progress to their second year and ultimately graduate to pursue their chosen career pathway
By making a positive contribution to health outcomes for the Australian community through the education of our nursing students
